Strategic agricultural studies for the Maghreb and Francophone West Africa regions
Last Updated 30 October 2024
We undertook two studies for the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture to provide advice on the strategic direction of their Agricultural Attaché Network, first for francophone West Africa (Senegal, Cote d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso and Mali) and later for the Maghreb (Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia). Both studies included a thorough analysis of current trends in the region, in terms of agricultural trends, safety and security, and climate change. The study on West Africa led to the appointment of an Agricultural Counsellor in Abidjan. For each of the studies we interviewed more than 20 people from BHOS, LNV and RVO and representatives from the private sector, knowledge institutes & NGOs.
