Farmer-Led Irrigation Development Methodology in the APSAN-Vale project

This movie presents the innovative Farmer-Led Irrigation Development (FLID) methodology used in the ASPAN-Vale project. The methodology focusses on facilitating the drivers behind (FLID) development so that farmers are in the lead, improving their own (irrigated and commercial) agriculture enterprise and take ownership of the development process and results. As such, APSAN-Vale increases climate-resilient agricultural productivity and food security, with a specific objective to increase the water productivity and profitability of smallholder farmers in Mozambique. APSAN-Vale is implemented by a consortium of three organisations, Resilience BV, HUB and Future Water.

The production of this movie was initiated by the Agência de Desenvolvimento do Vale do Zambeze and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Mozambique and has been shown on the Climate Adaptation Summit (CAS) 2021 Side event, where the APSAN-Vale project was presented as a promising climate adaptation strategy.

There are short movie portraits (1-2 minutes) that highlight each of the key pillars of the project: the methodology, water productivity monitoring, water management and irrigation, good agricultural practices and market linkages, and nutrition and health.
