PADEO Formulation Ghana

The Project

We supported the Netherlands Embassy in Accra with the formulation of their new strategy on youth and agribusiness in Ghana. The first phase entailed a systematic analysis of root causes and leverage points for increasing youth employment in agribusiness in Ghana (making use of the food systems decision support toolbox); the second phase formulated the design of the new horticulture program of the Embassy. Both assignments were part of the EKN/RVO/DDE Programmatic Approach Sustainable Economic Development (PADEO) that aims to better integrate central (DDE/RVO) and decentralized instruments and funding. The analyses also fed into the combi-track of Ghana, which was recently approved. For both studies, interviews were held with key informants from BHOS, LNV, and RVO responsible for agricultural development and food and nutrition security in Ghana. In addition, we organized four multi-stakeholder meetings.
